Touched down at Copenhagan airport.
It looks like any other airport. The only difference is the we were going up and down the escalators and lifts. The lady at the ticket counter was not particularly nice. Though I did not understand even a word from her mouth, the first impression was really not memorable. It would be much better if she could at least gives us a friendly smile. Got the train ticket finally and on our way to Lund. The train got past a bridge which connects Denmark and Sweden. I spotted it from the plane. On the train, you would not see the bridge itself as the train travels underneath the bridge. But based on what was at the surrounding: sea, windwhirls and metal railing, I knew that we were ‘in’ the bridge.
Halfway through the journey (the whole journey only took us around 30 minutes), we need to switch to another train due to some reasons. We got into the wrong cabin. Sometimes here at Sweden, they have this special cabin in which you are not allowed to make noise. We were so excited that everything was new and carrying so many luggage, we accidentally made ‘a bit’ of noise and immediately a lady sitting just next to the sliding door, spoke something in swedish which is clearly not very pleasant based on the tone and the rather ‘grumpy’ look. Well, we were wrong at first so..we took our sit and remained silent for the rest of the journey. I would have appreciated if she could at least talked nicely as we were really not aware of such thing (maybe I understand why she behaved like that. There were signs on the cabin wall telling people not to make noise and yet we were making noise.. but come on we had not have time to take a look at the surrounding. We need to put our stuffs and sit down first).
Anyway, that was just one encounter which is not totally bad as I know now at least there is such thing.
Walking in Lund is such a pleasure. You will almost would not feel tired even if you walk for 15 km a day. For this period of time, the weather is not particularly cold. It is just windy. Saturday in Lund is VERY peaceful. Summer has just started and all the flowers are blooming; red, pink, yellow, white, orange. The whole street is was filled with colours. One beautiful sign of Lund is the flower pots and the very nicely trimmed tree branches at downtown.
So we walked all the way from the hotel to BMC for the first day of the workshop on apoptosis. There was really not much people in the university on weekends. Not a single soul sometimes. Well we still manage to find our way finally. yeah!
The rest of the day, we spent checking out the city, familiarising ourselves with the streets, convenient stores, restaurants in Lund. Accidentally we ‘get caught’ by a someone promoting something very passionately. They called it ‘stress test’. Basically at their booth, you will be asked to hold metal rods in each of your hands, then they will ask you questions and they measure the changes in electrical current which goes through the metal rods, generally. After a series of questions, and I knew that that girl was trying to lead me into saying I feel stressed, I finally told her, ‘I am on vacation and there is no reason for me to feel stress’. Think she finally gave up, she just took out a book and started promoting it. It is related to a concept called ‘Dynetics’. Obviously I was not interested and finished off by saying ‘I will check it out in the net first’. She must be having a hard time trying to get the books off their shelf.
Anyway after a long walk around the city, we went to this pasta restaurant and had kchyklingrulle (chicken, fries, salad). The portion is really HUGE! But I think it is just the right size for me. Weather is cold I had better eat more.
