Kluang – Gunung Lambak

Filed under: Malaysia, OneLiner, Travellog — wwoopy @ 3:46 pm
One of the must go places when you are visiting Kluang next time is Gunung Lambak. It is only a quarter of the height of Cameron Highland but one big difference is the peak is totally not accessible by car. :P Some of the places have been turned into some sort of children’s playground and it is quite annoying when they blast rock music amidst the nice greenery. Some times back I remembered seeing a sign labeling it as ‘ecopark’ or something like that. I did not notice it this time, maybe they have taken it down.
There are basically 3 routes to reach the so called ‘半山’ or half the mountain. One is fast but steep; another one is slow and steady; the last one is just the average of the two. Normally I would take the first one. Well a nice thing you would see along the way up besides trees is water. lol

Isn’t that nice to see a ‘waterfall’ in a small mountain?
Climb to the half is quite an easy task. The time to take is just 5 – 15 minutes.

At the half, nice sculptures like these could be seen. Salute to the ‘uncles’ who made all these slowly bits by bits.
A short rest is all you need to continue your way up to the top.

the 500m mark, meaning you are 500m left to reach the top!! GO GO
One common encounter when climbing this mountain is that people who are making their way down from the top will always tell you you are just 5 minutes to reach the top. Yeah yeah… it sounds encouraging especially when your legs are feeling like tofu. I used to tell people that too last time.

View from the top is just as nice as that of Cameron Highland. lol it’s really nice, isn’t it?
This entry is short; just nice for a small and delicate mountain like Gunung Lambak.
note: the price of climbing this mountain after nearly two weeks of rain. Dirty shoes.

2/3 in Cameroon Highland

Filed under: Malaysia, OneLiner, Travellog — wwoopy @ 3:45 pm

Ever hesitate on where to go on a short holiday? Cameron Highland is the superb choice! With day-time temperature down to 20.0°C and a recorded minimal temperature of an unbelievable 7.8°C, the spot on the border between Pahang and Perak is just the perfect place for everyone who wants to feel the cool and serenity.

The drive from Johor up to Cameron Highland is an enjoyment.

Just a brief account of the route I took. From Kluang, entering the North-South highway, you can easily cruise along to reach the Simpang Pulai Exit. With a short stop at Slim River for lunch, going from Kluang to Simpang Pulai will take you not more than 5 ½ hours. Turning into Simpang Pulai exit, you will come to two traffic lights. Turn right and follow the one and only road until you arrive at a T-junction. Turn right again to Brinchang and up you go to the Equatorial Hotel, which was where I stayed for the two nights.

What greets you at the hotel is a pot of plant.

Shake me! Shake me! I have coins on my body.

This is one of the nicest view comparing to other hotels which I stayed last time

The view from the balcony is just fantastic!

Strawberry farms are everywhere.

They look cute from any perspective.

Some of the strawberry farm offers you quite-good-looking breakfast.

Another must go place is the Bee farm. After watching the Bee movie, the visit to the Bee farm somehow refreshed my memory of Barry Benson.

Barry doesn’t really look like that though. But that chap in the picture looks really happy, isn’t it?

Cactus farm – you would not want to miss that.

All those are just for ‘bai mei’, sorry you can’t buy them though they look really nice and handsome, including that guy.

Di Di, don’t try this at home.

Not all the things at Cameron Highland are suitable for kids below 3 years old. But there are always some exceptions.

Flowers are another abundances at Cameron Highland. Everywhere you go, you are guaranteed to be surrounded by flowers.

Flowers are nice to look and nice to smell.

Back to the hotel at night, other than the Chinese cuisine they offer, the cricket lounge is a nice place to hang out. Unfortunately, it was a bit empty most of the time. I was there for both nights. The attendance was just disappointing.

Though facing the ‘rather’ empty crowd, the 3 singers still performed at their best (the third is behind the keyboard). They are quite amazing, in the sense that, they sang Malay songs, Chinese songs, Cantonese songs, Hokkian songs, and English songs non-stop, other than the 15 mins breaks in between.

The last place visited before going down the mountain was Rose Valley. As the name suggested, there are full of roses. 450 types of roses are said to live in the valley. Among the unusual ones are the black rose and the green rose.

The black rose. Not so black though.

The green rose is a type of rose which possesses only green sepals but no petals. Flowers with no petals… hmm..

Lastly, I am going to end this with my favourite picture.
